Bukonzo Joint Cooperative Micro Finance Society Ltd. (Bukonzo Joint) is owned by its shareholders -- 85 percent women -- who currently operate 3,400 small farms in the Rwenzori Mountains region of western Uganda, where they raise high-quality, organically grown, hand-picked coffee.

Bukonzo Joint is headquartered in Kyarumba town, Kasese district. Its operations include marketing its farmers' organic coffee and other agricultural products; finance, such as providing agriculture and small business loans to members; and member training and skills development. In addition to its more than 5,000 clients, Bukonzo Joint has a full-time staff of 13, 40 part-time volunteers, and six training officers.

"Considering the number of households covered, Bukonzo Joint seemed to come out on top of all the organizations in terms of revenue generated per household."
